Find Your Voice is a family-driven initiative created by a team of neurodivergents: Designer Dad Steve, Early Years Educator Mom Tara, and their daughter, Miss A. Based in Melbourne, Australia, our journey began with a need—our daughter often experiences situational mutism, especially in high-stress environments, and we wanted to help her communicate more comfortably.
We tried several sets of communication cards, but they were quickly rejected by our daughter for being ‘cringe’ or ‘too babyish.’ So, we took matters into our own hands. With Steve’s extensive design expertise, Tara’s background in education, and Miss A’s invaluable lived experience, we created our own set of self-advocacy and communication cards.
Initially, this was a personal project, but we soon realized that if our daughter needed this, so did others. Today, our cards help people across the globe find their voice.

We at Stimpunks were excited when we first saw the communication cards from “Find Your Voice”. At last, we found a stylish and designerly set of cards with a modern and clean aesthetic. Most communication cards have a cartoonish aesthetic aimed at young children. The “Find Your Voice” cards appeal to teens and adults looking for something more grown up and professional.
I experienced situational mutism as a kid. I wrote about my school experience in “R-word and Genius: Situationally Mute Hyperlexic Autistic”. I wish cards like these existed back when I was in school.

Find Your Voice™ DIY Self Advocacy Cards are available in yellow, red, blue, green, and purple as PDF downloads.
There’s also an iPhone and iPad app.

This set covers my self advocacy needs, but a fixed set of cards like these can’t cover everyone’s needs. If you need a custom set, InPrint is a good resource, but it lacks the designerly aesthetic.
Pair these communication cards with our interaction badges.
