Campfire Learn Together is our weekly Sunday gathering where we watch, move, think, and talk together. We screen a lecture from thinkers like Alfie Kohn, take a bodymind break, and then dig into the ideas as a community. No hierarchy. No one-way transmission. Just omnidirectional learning in a real Cavendish Space campfire.
We also use this space to audition workshops and presentations we’re building, and to review and discuss pages on the Stimpunks website together. Every session is a practice of what we preach.

What We Do Each Week
Campfire Learn Together weaves together three kinds of learning:
- 📽️ Watch together — a ~45-minute lecture or talk from an expert we trust, including thinkers like Alfie Kohn, Peter Gray, and Mia Mingus
- 🧠 Bodymind break — a pause to move, stim, snack, step away, or just breathe. No explanation needed.
- 💬 Discuss together — community-led conversation with no designated expert. Just people thinking out loud.
We also use the time slot to:
- 🎤 Audition workshops and presentations we’re developing for wider audiences, workshopping them in community before we take them further
- 🌐 Review and discuss Stimpunks website pages together, shaping the resource with community voice
Sessions run one hour to one and a half hours.
Cavendish Space in Action
Campfire Learn Together is a living practice of Cavendish Space — psychologically safe and sensory safe learning that honors caves, campfires, and watering holes alike.
Cavendish Space: psychologically and sensory safe spaces suited to zone work, flow states, intermittent collaboration, and collaborative niche construction.
Our campfire holds space for all three modes:
- 🕯️ Cave — quiet watching, internal processing, no pressure to perform attention
- 🔥 Campfire — the lecture itself, learning with a storyteller or expert
- 💧 Watering hole — the discussion, peer-to-peer, community-led learning
No one is required to speak. No one is the designated knower. The fire belongs to everyone.
The Learning Goes Both Ways
Omnidirectional learning means we don’t just learn from experts — we learn with each other. The discussion after the video is as much a part of the learning as the video itself. Community members bring their own expertise, experience, and special interests. People who’ve lived it know things that lecturers don’t.
We practice what we preach. We learn together the way we believe learning should work: open, interdependent, and driven by curiosity rather than compliance.

Campfire Learn Together is designed with sensory safety and access in mind:
- 💻 Online in Discord — join from wherever you’re comfortable
- 📷 Cameras off is always fine
- 🔇 Mics muted is the default — unmute when you want to share
- 🧠 Bodymind break is built in — step away, stim, snack, rest, no explanation needed
- 💬 Chat participation is always welcome alongside or instead of voice
- 🐾 Come as you are. Bring your pets, your fidgets, your safe snacks.
Who Shows Up
Campfire Learn Together is part of the Stimpunks community — neurodivergent and disabled people and our allies, gathered online every Sunday morning. You don’t need to be an expert. You don’t need to have seen anything ahead of time. You just need to be curious.
We are a community of practice and a community of care. We show up for each other. We learn from each other. The campfire is always lit.
