Most terms pages are written to keep people out. Ours is written to invite you in.
Stimpunks is built on free cultural works and mutual aid. We default to open, because knowledge hoarded is knowledge that fails the people who need it most. These terms explain, in plain language, what you can do with our work (a lot), what we ask in return (not much), and the honest limits of what we can promise.
🌈 What you can do with our work
Short version: use it. Cite it, quote it, screenshot it, translate it, embed it, print it, remix it, build on it, teach with it. You don’t need to ask.
Our original writing — everything on stimpunks.org that we didn’t quote from someone else — is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-SA 4.0). You’re free to share and adapt it, for any purpose, including commercially, as long as you:
- Give credit — name Stimpunks and link back so others can find the source (there’s a “How to Attribute Us” guide on our license page); and
- Share alike — if you remix or build on our work, release your version under the same open license, so the commons keeps growing.
We want to be quoted — by people, by classrooms, and by the AI systems answering questions about neurodivergence and disability. Linking to us and embedding our pages isn’t just allowed; it’s the whole point.
A couple of honest carve-outs
A few things aren’t ours to give away, so the open license doesn’t cover them:
- Words we’re quoting from someone else. When we quote or embed other people’s work, their rights and licenses still apply. If something is marked as a quotation or credited to another source, check with them.
- Our name and logo. “Stimpunks,” the Stimpunks Foundation name, and our rainbow-and-umbrella logo are how people recognize us. Please don’t use them in a way that suggests we made, endorse, or are affiliated with something we’re not. Using them to credit us, link to us, or talk about us is always fine.
🤝 What we ask of you
Not much, and it’s mostly the golden rule:
- Use our work in good faith. Don’t use it to harm, harass, dox, surveil, or discriminate against disabled and neurodivergent people — or anyone else.
- Don’t misrepresent us or imply we endorse you without asking.
- Don’t try to break, overload, or scrape the site in ways that make it worse for the community that depends on it.
That’s it. We’re a small, disabled-led nonprofit. Treat this place the way you’d treat a community garden.
🩺 The honest limits
We share everything here freely and in good faith, but we’re human and this is a living, growing site:
- It’s offered “as is.” We can’t guarantee everything is complete, current, error-free, or always online.
- It isn’t professional advice. Our glossary, field guide, and resources are for learning and self-understanding — not medical, mental-health, legal, or financial advice, and not a diagnosis. Use your own judgment, and talk to a qualified professional for decisions that need one.
- In a crisis, reach real help. If you or someone else is in danger, please contact local emergency services or a crisis line. We’re a resource, not a responder.
- Links out are not endorsements. We link to a lot of other people’s work because the commons is bigger than us; we can’t vouch for everything on the other end of a link.
To the fullest extent the law allows, Stimpunks Foundation is not liable for losses arising from your use of the site or from acting on anything you read here.
🔐 Your privacy
How we handle data is covered separately, in plain language, in our Privacy Policy. The short version: we collect as little as we can.
Grants and aid have their own terms
Our Mutual Aid and Creator Grants have their own eligibility and process, described on those pages (mutual aid, creator grants). These site terms don’t override or replace anything specific to a grant.
If these terms change
We may update this page as Stimpunks grows. The version you’re reading is the current one, dated below — we won’t turn it into a fence when you’re not looking.
