Here are answers to common questions about our Mutual Aid Grants.
Who can apply?
Anyone who identifies as disabled and/or neurodivergent. You do not need a diagnosis, income limit, or proof of disability to apply.
What kinds of support do you fund?
We support direct needs that help people stay safe and stable — like rent gaps, utility bills, accessibility tools, technology for independence, and basic living costs.
When will I hear back?
Starting in February 2026, we will select one grantee every other month at our current funding level. Applicants are notified near the end of selections month whether they have been selected or not. We appreciate patience during our review period. Your application is good for the rest of the calendar year. We consider applications every month, so you might get selected later. It is possible to apply in January and not get selected until December, if at all. If you would like to turn off notifications for not being selected, let us know.
What if I’m not selected?
Not being selected is not a judgment on your worth or need. We have limited funds and many requests. You’re welcome to reapply in future rounds.
Do I have to repay the grant?
No. Grants are direct support, not loans. You do not have to repay any funds you receive.
If you are notified that you’ve been selected to receive a grant from us, we will follow up with in about two weeks to see how you are doing and gather needed documentation on how the grant was spent. This is so we can keep our grants non-taxable. If you do not document how the grant was spent, we will have to issue you a 1099 and the grant will be taxable. This can be emailed attachments such as receipts (though receipts are not required) or a written list.
Can I apply more than once?
Yes. If your needs continue, you’re welcome to apply again in a future round. You only need to apply once a year. However, we do give priority to applicants who have not previously received a Stimpunks Mutual Aid Grant in the past.
What information do I need to include?
Keep it simple and honest. Tell us what you need, why you need it, and how the grant would help your safety or stability. We read every application; clarity helps.
